Marathi is one of the most spoken languages in India, and it’s the regional as well as the official language of the state of Maharashtra. The knowledge of the language can open doors to its rich cultural heritage and help the learner make his / her stay more authentic and enjoyable. Learning a language as a second / foreign language is different from learning it as a first language. This course takes into consideration the requirements of the non-native learners and aims to acquaint them with the basic knowledge of the language, with an emphasis on spoken Marathi.

The main aim of this course is to introduce the learners to the basic knowledge of the language, its script, phonetics, grammar as well as cultural elements. The course shall involve diverse exercises pertaining to all the four language skills, i.e. reading, listening, speaking and writing. Along with the practice of language structures, their application in authentic situations shall also be dealt with.
